Illegal Acquisition of a Mobile Phone is a Crime!

There has been a rise in cases of victims becoming involved in criminal situations from part-time work invitations on Social Network Sites (SNS). These scams promise fast and easy money by asking people to simply “sign a mobile phone contract.”
It is illegal to purchase mobile phones for the purpose of reselling them to others.

Punishments if you are found in violation of the law include…
○ Up to 10 years in prison for fraud charges against mobile phone dealers
○ A fine up to ￥500,000 for breaking the Act for the Prevention of Illegal Mobile Phone Use
You may be charged with other crimes, too!

In order to avoid getting caught up in these crimes:
○ Do not respond to requests to sign mobile phone contract from others.
○ Do not give or transfer your SIM card for someone else to use.

Do NOT accept part-time job offers that resell mobile phones!
